Amarnath pilgrimage: Fresh batch of 7392 pilgrims leave from Jammu base camp

Jammu: Amid the chants of 'Bam Bam Bhole', a fresh batch of 7392 pilgrims on Saturday left for Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine here from Bhagwati Nagar Base camp.

An official said that a batch of 7392 pilgrims left the base camp in a convoy of 272 vehicles.

As many as 4024 pilgrims (2856 males, 826 females, 20 children, 297 sadhus and 25 sadhvis) left for Pahalgam in a convoy of 146 vehicles and 3368 pilgrims (2041 males, 1269 females, 15 children, 22 sadhus, one sadhvi) left for the Baltal in a convoy of 126 vehicles amid tight security arrangements.

An official said that on Friday, 24,445 pilgrims visited the shrine which included 17,583 males, 5,643 females, 993 children, 220 Sadhus and six Sadhvis.

The number of pilgrims, who paid obeisance at the Amarnath Cave, till today reached to 1,87,014.

The pilgrims are being provided with all the facilities by the concerned departments round the clock.

The yatra started on July 1 and will conclude on August 31.
