American political analyst Christine Fair uses Hindi cussword ‘Ch****’ to slam Trump over India-US row

Carol Christine Fair remarked during her conversation with Pakistan-origin British journalist Moeed Pirzada, referring to the sudden deterioration in the relationship shared between India and the USA.

The word 'chu****' loosely translates in Hindi to 'idiot'.

The video of the conversation has now gone viral online.

"The optimist in me would like to believe that the bureaucracy is going to hold it together. But the pessimist in me says, this is six months, and we've got four years of this chu**** here," Carol Christine Fair was quoted as saying in the viral video.

Visually amused by her remark,  Moeed Pirzada said, "This is the word which I keep saying in Urdu, and my many viewers object to it. You have ended up using it in an English discussion."

In her reply, she was quick in repeating the controversial word when she said: " Well, he is, he is a chu****."

“But one does have to remember that we have this complicated bureaucracy. And this bureaucracy has been really working towards this relationship for these 25 years. A lot of this bureaucracy has just been initiated. We just lost thousands of State Department personnel. We don’t have visibility into where that expertise was lost," she was quoted as saying by the media.

Carol Christine Fair is a Professor in the Security Studies Program within Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.

She previously served as a senior political scientist with the RAND Corporation, a political officer with the United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan in Kabul, and a senior research associate at USIP’s Center for Conflict Analysis and Prevention, according to the Georgetown University website.

She made the remark at a time when the US-imposed tariff penalties on India became operational from Wednesday.

Why is Trump penalising India?

The Trump administration, which was earlier viewed as India-friendly, has slapped a 25 percent tariff on the South Asian country for its high tariffs on American exports and another 25 percent for purchasing oil from Russia which is fighting a war against Ukraine.

The White House, which has singled out India over Russian oil purchase, said the second 25 percent tariff will be effective from August 27, 2025.

Since the conflict in Ukraine began in early 2022, India significantly increased its imports of discounted Russian crude oil—now comprising over 30 percent of its total crude imports.

Indian refineries then export refined petroleum products globally which critics, especially in the U.S., argue that indirectly supports Russia’s war effort by funneling money into its economy.

In response, the US proposed tariffs and trade measures targeting India’s exports to discourage this behavior.
