Amit Shah briefs BJP MLAs in his three-day Jammu and Kashmir visit

Jammu/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir in his visit to the union territory.

Shah reached Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening on a three-day visit.

"Today held a meeting with BJP MLAs and senior officials of the organization in Jammu and discussed various topics. Under the leadership of Modiji, BJP will continue to work for the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir," Shah wrote on X.

As per reports, Shah directed the BJP MLAs to counter the ruling National Conference on issues like abrogation of Article 370 and Waqf (Amendment) Act in a meeting held in Jammu.

The senior union minister asked the party legislators to counter the NC's alleged attempt to confuse people on Article 370, statehood and Waqf (Amendment) Act, said Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Sunil Sharma.

This is Shah's inaugural visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the NC-Congress won the assembly elections with 48 seats as opposed to BJP's 28 last year.

While the NC won the bulk of the ruling coalition seats, the BJP won all 28 from the Jammu region.

Shah's visit also comes in the backdrop of the recent rise in terror incidents in the union territory.

The Home Minister, a tall leader of the BJP, is scheduled to review the security matters development programmes.

Shah will also visit a Border Security Force (BSF) outpost along the India-Pakistan border in Kathua on Monday.

On Tuesday, the minister is scheduled to hold a meeting related to development projects and review security in Srinagar before flying back to the national capital New Delhi.
