Angela Merkel arrives in India to attend Fifth Biennial IGC, meeting with PM Modi today

New Delhi: German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Indian PM Narendra Modi on Friday.

She arrived in India on Thursday.

She is in India to attend the Fifth Biennial Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC). 

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted: "Enriching the strategic texture of our relationship. German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Delhi beginning her State visit to India during which she, along with PM @narendramodi  will co-chair the 5th
-
IGC.This would be the 5th meeting between the leaders within a year."

Under the IGC format, the counterpart Ministers from both countries will hold initial discussions in their respective areas of responsibility.

The outcome of these discussions will be reported on at the IGC Co-Chaired by the Prime Minister and the Federal Chancellor of Germany.
