Anti-CAA agitation politically motivated, says BJP MP Satyapal Singh

Aurangabad,Maharashtra/UNI: BJP MP, Dr Satyapal Singh on Wednesday accused that the ongoing Anti-CAA agitation across the country by the different political parties and outfits are totally politically motivated and said that the CAA act was not for any Indian citizen.

Addressing a press conference here today Dr Singh, former chairman of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) of CAA said that, the CAA act has been introduced during the Congress regime and the opposition is now playing it for vote bank.

Present amendment act is those refugees who have been staying here at lest six year, they will get citizenship of the country, earlier it was eleven years period.

Those refugees including Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Parsi and Christian were targeted in the name of religion in Islamic countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will get citizenship as per new act.

At present their numbers are 31,313 in the country, he said.

Commenting on Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddahv Thackeray, the BJP MP said, as per the Indian constitution seventh schedule in list of Union, if the union government is passed any amendment in parliament, then the state government has no power to reject it, he pointed out.

He further alleged that the longtime ruled congress party was responsible for the ongoing row, who played vote banks politics.

On NRC issue, he said that, at present NRC enforced in only Assam and it was decided during the Congress rule, due to numbers of Bangaldeshi intruders.

He further said that the central government has not taken any decision to enforce the NRC act in rest of the state so far.

Dr. Satypal also shared his experiences in press conference that the numbers of qualified refugees including doctors who were staying in different parts in the country yet to get citizenship and they have been facing a lot of problem to get employment, for opening bank accounts, to get an admission to their children in government schools and others.

During his chairmanship of JPC on CAA numbers of oppressive conditions like fees of Rs 15000 for applying citizenship to them which were relaxed by this government considering their financial condition, Dr Satyapal added.
