Arunachal Pradesh: 3 hardcore ENNG operatives arrested

Itanagar: Couple of days after destroying a major camp of Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) near Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, a joint team of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) and Assam Police on Saturday arrested three hardcore operatives of the Naga insurgent group from the neighbouring state’s Tinsukia district.

They also recovered one 32 bore pistol, 2 magazines and 25 rounds of ammunition from the arrested trio, a senior police officer said.

“As a dedicated follow up to the ops conducted against the ENNG operatives by the APP at the Lungpang camp, we have successfully conducted raids and managed to apprehend crucial leaders of the organization,” APP spokesperson and SP (SIT) Rohit Rajbir Singh, who along with Changlang SP Mihin Gambo leading a joint team engaged with insurgents in a daring operation and destroyed their camp at the Indo-Myanmar border on Thursday, said.

The arrestees have been identified as self-styled (SS) leader general secretary Chailai Ngodam, SS Major Shewang Hodong and cadre Hongam Ngodam, the SP said.

Singh also said that due to consistent pressure mounted by the APP, one ENNG cadre, identified as Wanong Sumta, was made to surrender to the joint team of SFs, with a 0.22 bore pistol.

“Further interrogation is on and appropriate legal action is being taken,” the SP added.
