Itanagar: The officer-in-charge of Kaying Police Station in Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kri died by suicide on Monday.

Police sources attributed depression to be the cause of this unfortunate incident.

According to Siang district SP Opir Paron, OC Sanjay Kri was found hanging by a nylon rope in the store room of the Kaying police station at around 9.30 am.

“He had told his wife that he was going to Boleng, the headquarters of Siang district, for attending a crime review meeting but instead he went to the police station where he hanged himself to death.

The incident might have happened between 7.30 and 8 am as it can be seen in the CCTV footage,” the SP informed, adding that the OC’s body was found by his PSO and driver, who were looking for him to go to Boleng and had unsuccessfully called on his phone.

The SP said that the deceased, as told by some of the colleagues, was suffering from depression and had even shared some cryptic posts on social media platforms.

He informed that after post-mortem, the body has been sent to his native place, Tezu in Lohit district for performing the last rites.
