Bihar: 3 killed as mortar shell falls outside firing range during military exercise in Gaya dist

Gaya/UNI:  Three people were killed and as many were injured when an army mortal shell fell and exploded outside the firing range during a military exercise in Bihar’s Gaya district.

According to police, the incident occurred at Gularved village in Bumer Panchayat under the Barachatti police station area.

All the injured were rushed to Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College, police added.

The deceased were identified as Govind Manjhi, Suraj Kumar, and Kanchan Kumari, police informed.

The injured were identified as Geeta Kumari, Rasho Devi, and Pintu Manjhi, police added.

Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gaya Ashish Bharti said that a team headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) was sent to the spot to investigate the incident.

The probe will be conducted from all angles including reasons that caused the mortar shell to cross the firing range, he added.
