Bihar lightning: 10 killed, Nitish announces compensation

Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today expressed deep shock over the deaths of ten people in lightning in seven districts of Bihar and announced compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each to family members of those killed in the incident.

Kumar said officials have been directed to pay compensation of Rs 4 lakhs each to family members of those killed in the accident.

The state government was solidly behind the bereaved families in this hour of tragedy, he said and advised the people to remain alert and indoors in the inclement weather.

He also suggested to follow the advisories of the Disaster Management Department being issued from time to time.

As it is, altogether 10 people were killed in different incidents of lightning in seven districts across the state.

Three people lost their lives in lightning in Purnea followed by two in Begusarai while one person each was killed in Patna, Saharsa, East Champaran, Madhepura and Darbhanga
