New Delhi: Expressing gratitude to voters of Bihar for NDA victory, the BJP national President JP Nadda on Tuesday thanked the people of the state for rejecting "dynasty, corruption and divisive politics" and choosing development.

Taking to twitter, he said "I congratulate and thank the people of Bihar from the core of my heart for today's mandate. The people of Bihar have put their stamp on the public welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the performance of development works and the actions of the NDA government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar ji.”

"Bihar has decisively rejected dynasty, corruption and divisive politics. The voters of Bihar have not only voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the NDA, but they have also expressed their confidence in the ongoing Vikas Yatra under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Nadda said in another tweet.

The BJP president further said that whether it is Bihar Legislative Assembly elections or the by-elections of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Manipur, and Telangana, the entire nation has maintained its unwavering faith in the welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After 15 long hours of counting and allegations of cheating amid the coronavirus pandemic, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged as the winner of the Bihar election in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The NDA reached the majority mark of 122 in the 243-member Assembly with BJP alone getting 74 seats while its alliance member-Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) won just 43.

The opposition, led by Tejashwi Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) put up a strong fight but eventually fell short of reaching the magic number.

However, Tejashwi's RJD emerged as the single largest party by winning 75 seats.

The Congress, which was a key ally of the 'Mahagathbandhan, contested from 70 seats but won only 19.

Chirag Paswan's LJP, which is considered a prime reason for JD(U)'s poor performance, won just one seat.

The three Left parties claimed 16 seats in total, with 12 going to the CPI (Marxist-Leninist).

The ruling JDU-BJP touched the majority mark at around 3 AM after a closely-fought race amid the pandemic.
