CAA agitation: RJD leaders sent to jail for violent protest

Bhagalpur, Dec 22 (UNI) Rashtriya Janta Dal ( RJD ) Bhagalpur district president Dr Tirupati Nath Yadav and Youth wing RJD president Md Meraz Akhtar alias Md Chand were arrested and sent to the jail under judicial custody for violent protest which caused damages during RJD sponsored Bihar bandh against Citizenship Amendment Act ( CAA) and National record for Citizenship (NRC).

Senior Police Superintendent Ashish Bharti said here today that concrete evidences of damaging several vehicles, forcibly enforcing bandh and disturbing peace during yesterday’s bandh were found against both of the leaders. On the basis of the evidences,FIR was lodged against three leaders of the RJD.

Bharti said that the police swung into action and arrested both the leaders and sent them to jail under 14 days judicial custody. The case was also lodged against some unidentified persons and raids were on to nab them too.

Earlier the RJD leaders and workers during their party’s bandh call on Saturday had demonstrated violently.

The police initiated the action on the basis of CCTV footage and footage of news channels.

Meanwhile, RJD state president Jagdanand Singh , taking strong note of it expelled both of the leaders from the party.
