Celina Jaitly expresses gratitude as Delhi HC intervenes in her brother’s UAE detention case

New Delhi/IBNS: Actor Celina Jaitly has expressed heartfelt gratitude after the Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in connection with her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has reportedly been in detention in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 2024.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Celina described the past year as a “nightmare,” highlighting the growing risks faced by Indian soldiers abroad.

“It has been an ordeal for me for over a year. I am deeply thankful for today’s judgment. As India continues to rise globally, our soldiers are increasingly being targeted overseas. I believe this order will play a crucial role in bringing my brother back. I’m especially grateful to my lawyer, Raghav, and the entire legal team,” she said.

The actor had moved the Delhi High Court, urging Indian authorities to provide her brother with urgent legal and medical assistance.

Acting on her petition, the court directed the Central government to submit a status report within four weeks and appointed a nodal officer to coordinate updates on Major Jaitly’s situation.

The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for December 4.

Celina Jaitly is being represented by Advocates Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal.

Her plea claims that Major Jaitly was abducted and detained in Abu Dhabi, where he has allegedly been held for 14 months without proper legal representation or medical care.

Speaking to ANI, Advocate Raghav Kacker said, “A nodal officer has been appointed to facilitate communication between Celina and her brother, ensure he receives legal assistance, and keep the family informed of developments. These steps are vital to securing his release and could further strengthen diplomatic coordination between India and the UAE.”

He added that key details surrounding Major Jaitly’s detention remain unclear, with both the family and legal team still awaiting official information from UAE authorities.
