New Delhi/IBNS: The Congress has rallied behind Shiv Sena top leader and MP Sanjay Raut, who has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the land scam case, media reports said.

Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury tweeted, "The only crime #SanjayRaut has committed that he has not been cowered down by the politics of intimidation of the BJP party. He is a man of conviction and courage. We are with Sanjay Raut."

Raut, whose Sena ran a coalition government with the NCP and Congress until a rebellion backed by the BJP uninstalled it, was arrested hours after the probe agency conducted raids in his residence.

The ED has recovered Rs. 11.5 lakh from Raut's residence.

Raut, whose Sena is a friend-turned foe of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was being quizzed in connection with the scam case related to the alleged irregularities in the re-development of a Mumbai 'chawl' and the transactions linked to it.
