Mumbai/IBNS: The number of Coronavirus cases in Mumbai's Dharavi crossed the 100-mark with 15 new infections detected on Friday itself.

The total number of cases in Dharavi, which is Asia's largest slum with 8 lakh population, reached 101 including 10 deaths.

The densely populated Dharavi has been categorised as a hotspot.

Last week the civic authorities had identified nine containment zones in Dharavi to stem the spread of the virus in the slums.

The police have also barricaded entry points to stop the movement of people to contain the disease.

The residents of the area have been restricted to roam out.

Mumbai is the worst-hit city in Indian with 2,073 coronavirus positive cases.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray earlier this week extended the lockdown till April 30.

Maharashtra continues to have the maximum number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

The highly contagious COVID-19, which had its outbreak in China's Wuhan city last December, has infected 13, 835 people across India and claimed the lives of 452 so far.
