COVID-19 cases in Mumbai breach 4000-mark, Maharashtra's tally touches 6427

Mumbai/IBNS: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Mumbai breached the 4000-mark taking the total tally in Maharashtra to 6427.

Maharashtra registered 778 new coronavirus cases on Thursday alone.

So far, 840 COVID-19 patients have recovered and thereby discharged from hospitals across the state.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 outbreak in India touched 686, as per Ministry of Health data released on Thursday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported so far in the country stands at 21,700 which includes 16689 active cases.

So far, 4324 people across the country have recovered from the disease.

Giving some ray of hope, the Indian government on Thursday said 12 districts in the country did not report any COVID-19 positive case for the past 28 days.

"Now, we have 12 districts that did not have a fresh case in the last 28 days or more (8 new districts have been added to the list)," Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, said during his daily press briefing.

"78 districts where no case has been reported in last 14 days (33 new districts in 9 states added to the list)," he said.
