New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Thursday uncovered and dismantled a terror module allegedly inspired by al Qaeda, media reports said.

The operation, which was a coordinated effort involving police forces from Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the arrest of 14 people believed to be connected to the group, according to an NDTV report.

The group was reportedly allegedly to carry out high-profile terrorist attacks aimed at establishing a 'Khilafat' in India.

According to a statement from the Delhi Police, the module was allegedly led by Dr. Ishtiyaq from Ranchi, Jharkhand, and was focused on declaring a 'Khilafat' and executing major terrorist activities across the country, the report said.

The group members had received training, including weapons handling, at various locations, according to police.

The operation was initiated after receiving critical intelligence inputs that exposed the module's plans and whereabouts, according to the NDTV report.

The collaboration between the Delhi Police and state forces was key in identifying and neutralizing the threat.

During the crackdown, six suspects were arrested in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, where they were undergoing weapons training, the report said.

Eight others were arrested in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh for further interrogation.

The police recovered several arms, ammunition, and literature related to terrorist activities.

Delhi Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected as the raids continue.
