EAM S Jaishankar inaugurates first overseas Jan Asudhi Kendra during his visit to Mauritius

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently inaugurated the first overseas Jan Asudhi Kendra in Mauritius during his visit to the country.

He inaugurated the facility with the country's PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

"Delighted to inaugurate along with Prime Minister @KumarJugnauth
the first overseas Jan Aushadi Kendra in Mauritius. This Aushadi Kendra is the delivery of the promise made by PM @narendramodi earlier this year," Jaishankar posted on X.

He said: "The health partnership project will supply cost effective, Made-in-India medicines to augment public healthcare and enhance well being."

Jaishankar paid an official visit to the Republic of Mauritius from 16th to 17th July 2024.

This is the first visit by EAM to Mauritius in his current term.

It follows the visit of Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth to India on 09-11 June, 2024 to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The EAM last visited Mauritius in February 2021.

"During his visit, EAM called on Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and explored ways to further strengthen the special and close partnership between the two countries," read a statement issued by the Ministry of external Affairs.

Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Renganaden Padayachy, and Minister of Industrial Development, SMEs and cooperatives Soomilduth Bholah and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Attorney General  Maneesh Gobin, were also present.
