Haryana's new CM Nayab Saini to face floor test today

| @indiablooms | Mar 13, 2024, at 05:56 pm

Chandigarh/IBNS: Haryana's new Chief Minister Nayab Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar a day ago, is set to face the floor test in the assembly here on Wednesday.

Saini, who is also the state unit president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath within hours after Khattar resigned after a fracture emerged in the BJP-Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) over the seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In the floor test, all eyes will be on JJP MLAs as the BJP has 41 seats, five short of the majority mark in the 90-member assembly.

However, the BJP is likely to sail through even without the support of 10 JJP MLAs as Saini might receive the support from 7 Independent MLAs.

Khattar may be fielded as a candidate for the Lok Sabha elections by the saffron party, some reports have claimed.

JJP, the party led by Dushyant Chautala, allied with BJP after the 2019 assembly elections.

In the last parliamentary elections, the BJP had won all 10 seats which were up for grabs in the state.

Saini, an OBC community face, was appointed  as the state president of Haryana BJP last year.
