Shimla/UNI: Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department on Monday said that the state, post monsoon season, received just 0.4 mm rainfall in the month of October, second lowest in last 17 years.

MeT Director Manmohan Singh said that state recorded 99 percent deficient rainfall compared to normal.

The lowest October precipitation was in October 2017 when the state had received 0.3 millimeters of rain. In October 2004, Himachal recorded 93 millimeters of rain and snow, more than double the normal amount.

There were only two spells of precipitation (rain or snow) in the last three days of the month, when the Lahaul valley, Manali and parts of Chamba received some rain and snow.

The Kinner Kailash mountain range in Kinnaur also received snowfall on October 22, the report said. Since then, the state recorded deficient or scanty rainfall in every October, the report added.
