India eyes deeper Europe ties as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri heads to Paris, Berlin

New Delhi/IBNS: India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will visit Paris and Berlin from April 12 to 14 for a series of high-level consultations aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and reviewing cooperation across key sectors.

In Paris, Misri will co-chair the India-France Foreign Office Consultations with Martin Briens, with discussions expected to cover defence, civil nuclear energy, space, cyber and digital cooperation, artificial intelligence, innovation, and cultural exchanges, along with global and regional developments.

In Berlin, he will hold similar consultations with Géza Andreas von Geyr, focusing on trade and investment, defence and security, green energy, technology, development cooperation, education, and people-to-people ties.

The visit comes amid sustained diplomatic engagement between India and Europe, following recent visits to India by Friedrich Merz and Emmanuel Macron earlier this year.

Officials said the trip will provide an opportunity to review the full spectrum of India’s bilateral relations with France and Germany and advance cooperation in priority areas, while also addressing pressing global and regional issues.

Misri is also expected to meet senior government officials and other dignitaries during the visit, underscoring ongoing high-level exchanges between India and key European partners.
