An Indian-origin man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in New Zealand's Dunedin on Monday.

He was identified as 28-year-old Gurjit Singh.

Singh was reportedly found dead covered in blood and glass outside his Dunedin home.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis confirmed pathological findings indicate Singh died as a result of multiple stab wounds inflicted by a sharp instrument at a Hillary St address in Dunedin, reported New Zealand Herald.

“Our thoughts go out to his wife and family, as well as his friends and colleagues, at this distressing time,” he said.

“This news will be difficult to process, and police are committed to finding answers of what has happened to Mr Singh and providing closure for his loved ones," he said.

Otago Punjabi Foundation Trust member Narindervir Singh told New Zealand Herald that he had met Singh, a Chorus technician, at a bi-annual temple, and knew him to be a friendly, hard-working and “good guy”.
