The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has completed constructing the world’s highest motorable road, the Likaru-Migla-Fukche route, promising to improve connectivity in the region.

The strategically crucial road traverses Mig La, a towering 19,400-foot pass in eastern Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

With the construction of this road, BRO has now surpassed its own previous Guinness World Record, previously set with the completion of Umling La at an altitude of 19,024 feet.

Announcing the competion of the project, the Indian Army wrote on X: "#BRO creates history again!"

"Border Roads Organisation #BRO has once again created history as Project Himank constructed the world’s highest motorable road at Mig La Pass (19,400 ft) in #Ladakh surpassing its own Guinness World Record set at Umling La (19,024 ft)," the Army said.

The Indian Army said the newly built Likaru–Mig La–Fukche road holds immense 'strategic significance' as the third vital axis from Hanle to Fukche.

The army said it will be boosting tourism in Ladakh.

"A shining testament to the indomitable spirit, engineering excellence & unwavering dedication of the #BRO in #NationBuilding," the Army said.
