New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS): The Income Tax Department on Thursday announced that it has attached benami shares worth Rs 254 crore belonging to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath's nephew Ratul Puri, media reports said.

The IT Department has attached the shares under the Benami Property Transactions Act.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently quizzed Puri.

According to reports, he once evaded interrogation by fleeing from the ED office on pretext of going to the washroom.

The IT department has revealed that Puri allegedly received these shares from a suspect in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam via shell companies.

According to reports, the shares belong to an FDI investment in Optima Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, part of the Moser Baer group led by his father Deepak Puri.
