Jammu/UNI: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday got its first woman bus driver, who ferried passengers from Kathua to Jammu here in a private bus.

Pooja Devi, a resident of remote belt of tehsil Basohli in Kathua district, on Thursday drove a private bus from Kathua to Jammu with passengers on board.

Speaking to reporters here, Pooja said she had been passionate about cars and buses since her teens and dreamed of driving them.

"Nowadays, women are flying jet planes and combat aircrafts. I wanted to break the taboo that only men can drive passenger buses," she expressed.

Pooja started driving autorisckshaw and moved to mini bus later.

The owner of the bus showed faith in her driving skills. "I love this profession and have been fully supported by my male colleagues," she added.
