Top American leadership, including Vice President Kamala Harris, on Thursday wished the Indian-origin community on Diwali.

Harris shared an image of the way the Vice President's residence has been lit on the occasion of Diwali.

"In celebration of Diwali, we illuminated the Vice President’s Residence and remember to see the light in our world, in each other, and in ourselves," she posted on X.

She also shared a video of her celebration with the Indo-American community members.

"Tonight, we join more than 1 billion people across America and around the world lighting diyas and celebrating the fight for good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness," she said.

Apart from Harris, Tim Walz, who is running as the Vice-President candidate for the upcoming US Elections, also participated in Diwali celebration.

"Honored to light a diya today to celebrate Diwali and recognize the many contributions South Asians have made to our nation," he said.

"Diwali is a reminder that light always triumphs over darkness. I’m inspired by the love, community, and joy I felt today," the politician wrote on X.

American Secretary of State Antony Blinken greeted the community on Diwali and wrote: " Diwali is more than just a festival; it's a powerful reminder of the values we all cherish: patience, togetherness, kindness, and unity." "To all who celebrate, all over the world, and with us here in the U.S., I wish you a Diwali filled with joy, peace, and prosperity," he said.

The Hindu community members across the globe celebrated Diwali on Thursday.
