Karnataka budget will be presented on Mar 5: Yediyurappa

Shivamogga/UNI: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced here on Wednesday that he will present the state budget on Mar 5.

Speaking to media here at his Shekaripura residence, he said this will the first budget of Yediyurappa government after coming to power in July this year and it is going to be his seventh budget presentation.

Budget preparation are going on and priority will be given to farmers in the budget.

On the expansion of the cabinet, he said, "I will consult party president and Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to the state on January 17 and 18.” Later the final decision will be made on the cabinet expansion.

Yediyurappa made the announcement while wishing the people of the state on the occasion of Sankranti.

Meanwhile losing his temper at a public event on Tuesday at Davanagere, the Chief Minister got up and almost walked off the stage until he was persuaded to stay by the lingayat seer, vachanananda swami. What rattled Yediyurappa was the seer’s pitch for a cabinet post for a BJP MLA during a religious rally.

“I want to tell you, don’t ignore Murugesh Nirani. If you don’t take care of him now, you will lose the support of the whole community,” said Vachanananda Swami the Lingayat rally in Davangere.

The Chief Minister immediately rose to his feet and fumed I am not here to listen to all this, I cannot work as per your demands later he returned to the stage.

Speaking on the occasion he offered to resign, he stressed that he was compelled to take care of the 17 rebel MLAs who had left their parties to help make him Chief Minister.
