Karnataka: One killed, 8 critically injured in a road mishap near Uppinangady

Puttur/UNI: One person was killed and eight others seriously injured when a jeep shuttling passengers between Nelyady and Uppinangady collided with a container truck near Bajathur village on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

The jeep was ferrying the passengers when the container truck going to Mangaluru hit the jeep at a turning point in Bedrody. The jeep was badly mangled after the collision.

The jeep’s driver, Abubakar Siddique, resident of Nelyady was taken to hospital but was declared dead and injured have been admitted to a city hospital.

The truck driver attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted by locals after a chase and handed over to the police. A case with the local traffic police was registered.
