Kolhapur/UNI: Five members of a family were seriously injured in an explosion at Mujawar Colony in Karad city of Satara district on Wednesday.

This was the second explosion in Satara district since last night when a petrol pipe of a generator exploded in a Durga Puja procession in which eight boys and girls were seriously injured with burns at Mahabaleshwar.

According to Karad city police, a big explosion took place at a house of one Shakil Mulla in Shantinagar's Mujawar Colony.

In this incident five members of his family were seriously injured and admitted at Krishna Hospital.

The explosion was so severe that the walls of the house collapsed.

After receiving information, police rushed with fire-brigade officials to the spot.

Police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
