Maharashtra: Five-storey building collapses in Thane, no injury

Thane, Aug 13 (UNI) A five-storey building in the Ulhasnagar township in the heart of the city collapsed on Tuesday, civic sources said.

No one was injured in the accident, Chief of the Disaster Cell Balasaheb Netke told UNI here.

It was yesterday when the building Mahak Apartment developed cracks and started sinking while the occupants of the 31 flats were evacuated by the firemen and shifted to safer places, he said.

Hence at the time of collapse, the building which was built in around 1992 was totally empty and there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.

The official said that the building was listed in the 'dangerous buildings' in the township.

Firemen and the team of disaster control cell rushed to the site and cleared the debris of the building.
