Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said she had a very pleasant meeting with Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Dubai International Airport and invited him to join the Kolkata business summit.

Banerjee, who left Kolkata on Tuesday for Dubai on her way to Spain to invite NRIs and foreign industrialists and investors to join the business summit, said she also invited the head of Sri Lanka to join the Kolkata business summit to be held on November 21-22, 2023.

"His Excellency The President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, saw me at the Dubai International Airport Lounge and called me to join for some discussion," the Bengal CM said on her Twitter account Wednesday morning.

"I have been humbled by his greetings and have invited him to the Bengal Global Business Summit 2023 in Kolkata. He extended a cordial invitation to me to visit Sri Lanka. It was a pleasant interaction with deep implications," Banerjee said.

After a night halt in Dubai, Banerjee left for Madrid Wednesday morning on her way to Barcelona, Spain.
