Man held with Rs 99,000 fake currency in Rajouri

Jammu/UNI: Police on Friday arrested one person with fake currency in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The accused identified as Abdul Khaliq Pervaiz of Dhargaloon Mendhar, district Poonch.

According to a police spokesperson, a team of police was on routine patrolling when they saw a man walking alongside road who started to behave suspiciously on seeing police team and changed his direction of walking.

Sensing suspicion, the team intercepted the man after a brief chase.

During search, 198 notes of 500 denomination amounting Rs 99000 was recovered for him, police spokesperson said.

He informed that during examination of the recovered cash they were found to be of fake nature.

A case under relevant sections have been registered and further investigation was on to identify and nab other accused involved in circulation of fake currency.
