Noida: The cold wave in Noida has worsened, leading the District Magistrate to announce the closure of schools for Classes up to 8th grade across all boards, media reports said.

The directive, effective from January 2, will remain in place until further notice, addressing the severe cold and dense fog enveloping the region, reported India Today.

The order applies to all schools affiliated with state boards, CBSE, ICSE, and others.

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, as cited by Additional District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Panwar, stated that the cold has been intensifying over the past few days.

“Children attending school in the morning are likely to face significant difficulties due to the extreme weather,” the administration was quoted as saying by India Today.

Schools found violating the closure directive will face administrative action.

The India Meteorological Department reported Noida's temperatures on Thursday ranged between 8°C and 17°C.

Fog and mist are expected to persist from January 3 to 6, according to the weather forecast.
