Operation Sindoor did not intend to target people in Pakistan: Azad

| @indiablooms | May 26, 2025, at 04:55 pm

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said India launched Operation Sindoor not to target the common people of Pakistan but to hit the terror base in the neighbouring country.

“Operation Sindoor was not intended to be against the people of Pakistan but against the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK," he told ANI.

"I congratulate our armed forces that none of the civilians of Pakistan were killed, as only terrorists were killed, and some family members of terrorists," he said.

"But the sad part is that Pakistan blindly fired in our border areas, and they intentionally attacked our civilians,” Azad, who is part of an all-party delegation led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Baijayant Panda, told the news agency.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which left 26 people, mostly non-Muslim tourists, killed.

India targeted seven terrorist hubs in Pakistan and PoK on May 7.

Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on several Indian cities which were neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces.
