PM Modi chairs high-level meeting on Coronavirus, to address nation tomorrow

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Coronavirus and the efforts to be undertaken to combat it on Thursday at 8 PM.

In a tweet, PMO India wrote: "PM Shri @narendramodi will address the nation on 19th March 2020 at 8 PM, during which he will talk about issues relating to COVID-19 and the efforts to combat it."

On Wednesday, he chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19.

"PM @narendramodi chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19. Ways to further strengthen India’s preparedness were discussed," PMO tweeted.

He urged individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking out mechanisms to fight the COVID-19 menace.

"PM @narendramodi emphasised on actively engaging with individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking out mechanisms to fight the COVID-19 menace. He also urged officials and technical experts to deliberate on the steps to be taken next," a tweet read.

He also expressed gratitude to all state governments for their efforts in combating the virus.

"Shri @narendramodi expressed gratitude to all those at the forefront of combating COVID-19 including the various State Governments, medical fraternity, paramedical staff, armed and paramilitary forces, those associated with aviation sector, municipal staff and others," the PMO posted.

At present, India has over 150 positive cases of COVID-19, with three deaths recorded already.

Worldwide, the virus affected almost 190,000 people and the global death toll is nearing 7,000.
