PM Modi holds meeting with Netherlands King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met the visiting Netherlands King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and held talks on bilateral and global issues.

During their six-day stay in India, the King and the Queen will also travel to Maharashtra and Kerala.

The King will also hold discussions with President Ram Nath Kovind.

The King will have a meeting with Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Thursday in Mumbai while in Kochi in Kerala, the state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will host a dinner for the dignitaries.

"Building upon the strategic trust. EAM Dr S Jaishankar called upon His Majesty King Willem-Alexander & HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and had fruitful discussions on expanding our relationship," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

"Centuries old Indo-Dutch ties have been nurtured through engagements at highest level," the MEA spokesman further said.

India and the Netherlands have a bilateral trade turnover of US$ 12.87 billion (2018-2019).

The Netherlands is the fifth largest investor in India with a cumulative investment of US$ 23 billion for the period 2000 to December 2017, officials said.
