Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slams BJP-led UP govt, says 'being a woman is crime in jungle raj'

New Delhi/UNI: Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over rising incidents of crime against women and stated that "being a woman has become a crime in this jungle raj".

Taking to her social media handle X, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the rule of law was non-existent in the state.

She said two minor girls were gang raped in Kanpur and their father committed suicide as they were being pressurised to withdraw their complaints.

Priyanka said, “From Unnao, Hathras to Kanpur – wherever women were tortured, their families were destroyed. In this jungle raj, being a woman has become a crime where there is no such thing as law left. After all, what should crores of women of the state do, where should they go.”

She said it has become a rule to destroy the families of those victims who want justice.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi too raised his concern saying that seeking justice is a crime in the double engine government (same party ruling the Centre and a particular state, a term coined by the BJP). To protect the "false image" painstakingly created by the friendly media, treating not only the victims but even their families as enemies has become a tradition in BJP-ruled states.

Rahul said, “After the atrocities against women during the BJP rule from Hathras to Unnao and from Mandsaur to Pauri, their families yearned for justice. Raise your voice against this terrible injustice, otherwise if not today then tomorrow the fire of this atrocities will reach you too.”
