Rahul Gandhi must apologise to nation: Ravi Shankar Prasad on Rafale verdict

| @indiablooms | Nov 14, 2019, at 02:07 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Slamming Rahul Gandhi over the Supreme Court's dismissal of Rafale review plea, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Thursday said the Congress leader must apologise to people of the nation.

Addressing a press conference, Prasad said, "Rahul Gandhi should apologise to people of the nation....The BJP would like to know about his (Rahul Gandhi's) accountability to the nation."

"Rahul Gandhi and Congress were defeated in the Supreme Court last year, in the Lok Sabha polls and then now," the veteran BJP leader said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the review petition on its Rafale verdict pertaining to defence fighter jet purchase by the present NDA government from France.

The judgement has come as a relief for the Modi government.

Congress, the main opposition party, had claimed the Centre had bypassed the deal and gave it to businessman Anil Ambani's company.

The top court last year had cleared the Modi government of any of the charges levelled against by the Opposition.

In December last year, the Supreme Court had rejected all the pleas which sought a probe into the Rafale deal pertaining to the buying of 36 fighter jets by India from France.

The top court had said there is no need to doubt the process and interfere in the pricing of the deal which has been picked up by Congress leader (then Congress president) Rahul as a political ammunition to attack Modi ahead of the 2019 general elections.
