Rahul Gandhi says travelling in Indian trains 'punishment' for common man under PM Modi's rule, shares viral video as proof

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused the BJP-led Central government of mismanaging the Indian Railways and said under PM Narendra Modi's rule travelling in trains has become a "punishment" for the common man.

He claimed that the Indian trains were in a poor state and that the government was trying to portray the railways as “incompetent” as a pretext to privatize it to favoured parties.

Attacking PM Modi's government, the Congress MP from Kerala's Wayanad shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), that showed people sitting inside toilets and on the floor while travelling by train.

Rahul Gandhi continued his criticism pointing out that despite having confirmed tickets, people were unable to find seating comfort. He said that ordinary citizens are compelled to either travel in the toilet or sit on the floor.

The former MP from UP's Amethi said, "If the common person's transport is to be preserved, then the Modi government, which is ruining the railways, must be removed."
