Rajasthan HC rules no disqualification of Sachin Pilot camp till Jul 24, verdict on Friday

Jaipur/IBNS: The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday ruled no rebel Congress MLAs including Sachin Pilot can be disqualified till Jul 24, media reports said.

The high court will on Friday pass a verdict on the pleas filed by the Pilot camp against the disqualification notices served to them by Assembly Speaker CP Joshi.

The disqualification notices were served with the support of the grand old party which rules the desert state, leading to a Congress versus Congress fight in the courtroom.

The Congress government in Rajasthan plunged into a political crisis more than a week ago after then Deputy Chief Minister Pilot flew to Delhi revolting against CM Ashok Gehlot.

Pilot claimed he had the support of 30 MLAs who would walk out of the government with him.

After Pilot skipped two consecutive meetings of MLAs chaired by Gehlot, the 42-year old leader was sacked as the Deputy CM and the party's state president.

Gehlot has claimed the support of 109 lawmakers including 107 from his own party and two from a regional outfit.

Congress leader and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Monday said the court has no jurisdiction in matters related to the Speaker in the court hearing.
