Reuters' official X account withheld in India following legal demand

New Delhi: The official X handle of international news agency Reuters has been withheld in India in response to a "legal demand," according to a message displayed on the platform.

The news organisation has not yet issued a statement explaining the circumstances that led to the action or the nature of the legal request involved.

Reuters is the media arm of Thomson Reuters, a global news provider that employs over 2,600 journalists across more than 200 locations worldwide.

Its X account, followed by millions globally, typically shares breaking news and updates on politics, business, and global affairs.

The development has sparked questions about press freedom and transparency, though further details remain unavailable at this stage.
