Sanjeevani scheme: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announces free healthcare for senior citizens ahead of Assembly polls

With just months left for voters to elect a new Assembly in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced the 'Sanjeevani' scheme which will provide free healthcare to all senior citizens in the national capital.

"Senior citizens in Delhi should not be worried till their son Kejriwal is alive," Kejriwal said.

"I am announcing Sanjeevani scheme for the senior citizens here. All those people who are aged above 60 will get free healthcare in the national capital," he said.

"They can treat themselves in both private and public hospitals," he said.

He said the scheme will have no upper limit and the Delhi government will bear all the expenses for the full treatment.

He said the scheme will be passed once the AAP comes to power for another term after the polls.

"The registration process for the scheme will begin in two to three days," Kejriwal said.

He said AAP volunteers will visit homes to register senior citizens who will opt for the scheme.

If AAP wins the polls then the Kejriwal-led political outfit will come to power for third straight term.

In 2020, AAP had clinched 62 out of the 70 Assembly seats in the national capital, marking a strong return to power.
