SC to hear Muslim side's plea seeking ablution inside Gyanvapi premises on Apr 14

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Monday decided to hear on April 14 a fresh plea by the Muslim side seeking permission for Wuzu (Ablution) near the spot where a Shivling was reportedly found.

The Muslim parties cite Ramzan, seeking suitable arrangements, and urgent hearing in the case.

Senior Advocate, Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for the Muslim party, mentioned the Gyanvapi mosque matter to the Supreme Court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chadrachud. This being the month of Ramzan, there are more worshippers, hence they requested listing of the matter for hearing.

The CJI led bench of the Supreme Court, assured Ahmadi that the matter would be heard on April 14.

"We will take it for hearing on April 14," the Apex Court said.

Ahmadi, pleaded to the Supreme Court that the Muslim side is insisting because of Ramzan, and they should have approached earlier.

The CJI, however, said, we will hear on April 14. This is a procedural matter.

The Supreme Court, had earlier on April 06, agreed to hear a plea also filed by the Muslim side, seeking a direction that worshippers should be able to pray inside the Gyanvapi premises, keeping in view the Ramzan, after hearing a mention by the lawyer Ahmadi.

He had told the Top Court earlier in the last date of hearing that this is the month of Ramzan and the worshippers should be able to pray inside the premises, to which, the Apex Court agreed to hear it on April 14.

Ahmadi had pleaded in the Supreme court that the practice of wuzu be allowed inside the mosque premises.

It is to be noted that the wuzu area is the centre of dispute since the Hindu side claims that a Shivling has been found at the centre of the wuzu area.
