Six died, 20 injured as bus hit truck on Pune-Bangalore national highway

Pune, Sept 12 (UNI): At least six persons were killed and 20 others injured when a private luxury bus rammed into a stationary truck near Satara on Pune-Bengaluru national highway, here on Thursday.

Confirming the accident, Satara Superintendent of Police Tejasvi Satpute said, "Three passengers are seriously injured and have been admitted to the government hospital in Satara. The incident has been registered with Satara Taluka police station."

The other passengers who sustained minor injuries were admitted in the private hospital nearby and were out of danger, he added.

According to Satara police control room, 20 people have been admitted to the civil hospital where some of them were said to be critical.

Satara police said the bus was going towards Karnataka from Pune. The bus belongs to Karnataka. The deceased and injured were yet to be identified.

According to preliminary police inquiry, the truck was parked near a petrol pump as the vehicle's tyre was burst.

Many passengers were fast asleep at the time of the accident.

Police team had reached the spot and rescue operation were being carried out. Traffic on the highway was affected due to the accident.
