TCS breaks silence on Nida Khan: ‘No HR role, no power’ in Nashik case

Nashik/IBNS: Amid an ongoing probe into allegations of sexual abuse and forced religious conversion, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has clarified that one of the accused, Nida Khan, did not hold any leadership role within the organisation.

The company stated that Khan was neither part of the HR team nor responsible for recruitment functions.

In an official statement, TCS MD and CEO K. Krithivasan said, “She served as a process associate and did not hold any leadership responsibilities.”

He further added, “Our unit in Nashik continues to operate and serve our clients. Reports in the press about the unit being shut down are absolutely untrue.”

Nida Khan suspended

Khan, who joined the company in December 2021 as a process associate, was placed under suspension by the firm last week after the firm cited a “serious matter” against her.

According to a suspension letter dated April 9, accessed by NDTV, the company said it had been informed of allegations against Khan, who is currently in judicial or police custody.

“Considering the seriousness of the matter… and that you are presently unable to discharge your official duties, the company has decided to place you under suspension with immediate effect,” the letter stated.

Signed by HR head Shekhar Kamble, the communication also said Khan’s access to company systems had been temporarily revoked.

She was instructed to surrender all company assets and refrain from contacting colleagues or discussing the matter, with a warning of disciplinary action for non-compliance.

Allegations against Khan

The case stems from a complaint by a woman who accused her colleague Danish Sheikh of entering into a physical relationship with her on the false promise of marriage in 2022, despite already being married.

Police say Khan, Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s faith and pressured her to convert.

She is also accused, along with another individual, of concealing Sheikh’s marital status.

As the investigation progressed, seven more women came forward, alleging mental and sexual harassment by senior employees and claiming that complaints to the HR department were ignored.

The incidents are said to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.

Arrests and ongoing probe

So far, seven employees, including six men and one woman HR head, have been arrested in connection with the case. TCS has said it follows a zero-tolerance policy on harassment and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

Khan seeks anticipatory bail

Khan, who had been absconding, is now reportedly in Mumbai. Her family has said she is pregnant and expecting her first child.

She has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail, with her medical condition likely to be a key factor in her plea.

Her lawyer, Baba Sayyed, has claimed that there are no serious allegations against her and that she did not directly commit any offence.
