New Delhi/UNI: Senior Tripura leader and former PCC president of Tripura, Pijush Kanti Biswas, on Tuesday rejoined the Indian National Congress (INC).

Biswas joined the party in the presence of Girish Chodankar, in charge of Tripura, and state president Ashish Kumar Saha at the AICC headquarters here.

Addressing the media after joining the party, Biswas said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completely neglected the north-eastern states.

He also accused the government of misusing its power to destroy the Constitution and the country's democracy.

He said that it was time for all to come together and give a befitting reply to the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

It may be mentioned that after quitting the Congress, Biswas joined the Trinamool Congress in 2022 and became the chief of the party's state unit.

Last year, in July, Biswas quit the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
