Truck hits car in Uttar Pradesh, seven members of family die

Seven members of a family, including two women, were killed and two others were seriously injured when a car was hit by a truck in Gaura Badshahpur, Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Sunday.

Police sources said that the incident took place late on Saturday night when a family from Sitamarhi district in Bihar was going to Prayagraj to finalise a marriage proposal.

"Near Prasad trisection the speeding truck hit the car killing six car passengers on the spot and injuring three others," they said.

Police sources said that the deceased have been identified as Aneesh Sharma (35), his father Gajadhar Sharma (60), Jawahar Sharma (57), his son Gautam Sharma, Sonam (34) and Rinku (32).

"Three persons, including Yug Sharma (8), Awadhesh Sharma (25) and Meena Devi (40), sustained serious injuries and were referred to th trauma centre in Varanasi," they said.

Police sources said that Yug Sharma succumbed to injuries during treatment in Varanasi.

"The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination," they said.
