Two Indian civilians injured as Pakistan violates ceasefire in Poonch

Jammu, Oct 22 (UNI) At least two civilians were injured as Pakistan troops yet again on Tuesday violated the ceasefire by shelling mortars and unprovoked firing along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Two civilians were injured in cross-border firing in Mendhar area and admitted to the sub-district hospital," Poonch Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav here said.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the firing had stopped.

Troops have recovered three live mortar shells on Tuesday morning in Karmara village of Poonch.

Meanwhile, Defence sources informed that Pakistan troops also violated the truce on Monday morning in Poonch sector.

On October 12, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Degwar area of Poonch. An Army jawan suffered injuries on October 11 in firing and shelling along the LoC in Rajouri by Pakistan Army. The jawan later succumbed.

Pakistan Army, on October 3, violated the ceasefire and targeted the villages along the LoC and International Border in Poonch and Kathua district.

Earlier on March 15, a civilian woman died in cross-border firing in Shahpur sector of Poonch.
