US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard visits India for high-level security talks

New Delhi: US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard arrived in India on Sunday as part of her multi-nation tour of the Indo-Pacific region, media reports said.

Gabbard is set to participate in a high-level conference led by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, aimed at bolstering intelligence-sharing frameworks to combat terrorism and transnational crimes, reported The Times of India.

The conference, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, will also see intelligence chiefs from Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and other key partner nations convening to enhance global security collaboration.

Her visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to the United States in February, where he met Gabbard and described her as a staunch supporter of India-US relations.

Expressing her gratitude, Gabbard welcomed Modi and reiterated her dedication to deepening ties between the two nations.

This trip marked Modi’s first visit to the US since Donald Trump assumed office for a second term.

During the visit, Modi and Trump met at the White House, exchanging a warm embrace in their first official meeting since Trump was sworn in as the 47th President on January 20.

Modi was one of the first world leaders to visit the US under Trump’s new administration, having received an invitation within just three weeks of the new government taking charge.
