Uttar Pradesh: Fire in engine of Frontier Mail in Saharanpur

Saharanpur/UNI: A major rail mishap was averted when engine of Mumbai bound Frontier Mail caught fire due to Chinese string of a kite near Alampura yard in Sekhpura area on early Tuesday morning.

Railway sources here said that 12904 Frontier Mail was crossing Alampura yard when suddenly a string of a kite came in contact with the engine leading to short circuit and fire.

The train was stopped by using emergency brake by the drivers and railway employees rushed to dozed the flames coming out of the engine.

The incident occurred at around 0330 hrs.

Later, the burnt engine was detached and a new one was attached to take the train coming from Amritsar to its onward journey.

Due to the incident, the train was stranded at Tapri station for around an hour.
