Promising that his country stands by the people of India, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun has expressed solidarity with New Delhi over the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that left 26 people dead.

The terror attack left mostly tourists dead, an incident that left the world shocked.

Cho Hyun told ANI: "We are very stern and firm on this issue. We are strongly against any terrorist attack. We stand by the Indian government and the people of India."

As a response to the Pahalgam incident, India launched Operation Sindoor and hit several terror base camps located in the PoK and Pakistan.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a wide-ranging and productive round of discussions with Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Saturday during the latter's first working visit to India in his new role.

"During the meeting, the Ministers reaffirmed the strong and growing Special Strategic Partnership between India and the ROK, rooted in shared democratic values, mutual trust, shared economic interests, and commitment to regional and global peace and stability," read a statement issued by the MEA.

The Ministers took stock of bilateral cooperation, including in the political, security, trade and economy, technological, and people-to-people domains.

They agreed to set new industrial ambitions, especially in high-tech sectors such as AI, semiconductors, clean energy, shipbuilding and defense industry.

The Ministers also shared their assessment on regional and global issues of common interest.
